I’m knee-deep in the edits to Group, Photo, Grave, the seventh book in the Kiki Lowenstein Mystery Series (Release date: Fall 2013). Every book has its hard parts and its easier components. I’ve found that I’ve really enjoyed describing Sheila’s wedding. Here’s a taste of it–and remember–you can become a guest at her wedding by entering the Rafflecopter contest!

My mother-in-law Sheila’s wedding wasn’t totally ruined
by the discovery of a corpse in the catering tent. After all, the ceremony
itself had been lovely.

Despite her broken collarbone, Sheila had beamed with
happiness as she and Robbie Holmes repeated their wedding vows, while standing
before a rabbi and a priest. The day was beastly hot, but the sun was bright in
a cornflower blue sky, and a light breeze carried the scent of roses in the
air. All in all, a wonderful omen for the new couple. I hoped the photographer,
who went by just one name

I think for the wedding gift I would get them a couples day at the spa. Since she really does not 'need' anything, that is something they can enjoy together.
I think that Sheila would love a good set of linens for the dining room, including a tablecloth, matching cloth napkins, potholders, towels, etc.
Punchbowl, as I still like the line about not ruining the wedding even though a body found in punchbowl. Can't recall exact wording, but it sure made me laugh.
Scrapbooking lessons- she's going to have a lot of new memories to document and it might be good for her to get a hobby that doesn't endanger small mammals in her yard?
A weekend away at a nice bed and breakfast for the 2 of them would be my suggestion.
I'd donate a tree to be planted in a public space in honor of her wedding to Robbie. I'd even have a heart plaque made with their initials just like people used to carve in trees.
Cynthia asked me to say: I would give as a wedding gift a gift card to a food store and delivery service where you can do online grocery shopping or call in an order. When characters are as busy as they are in these books, and they never seem to eat on a regular basis, to me, having a fully stocked refrigerator and food pantry might be a good idea for a new bride, especially one who has no clue as to what or how to cook. She could order all prepared foods and just heat them up!!!! Or order lots of wine and chocolate!!!!! (for the bad times).
I love all these ideas!
This is great!
